True Beauties: Childhelp Founders Sara O'Meara and Yvonne Fedderson

I just met two of the most charming and inspirational ladies today. Sara O'Meara and Yvonne Fedderson, founders of Childhelp, were on-hand at the launch of Philosophy's Carrot Cake at the Nordstrom Scottsdale. Their story started in 1959 when these two spunky actresses were plunked from a group of 500 applicants to entertain U.S. troops during a peacetime tour of Asia. Their odyssey took a sharp turn when they arrived in a storm-devastated Tokyo and happened upon 11 tiny children huddled together to fend off the bitter cold. The story of how these young, glamorous women came to the rescue of these kids, who as it turns out were shut out of an orphanage because of their mixed American-Japanese blood, is incredible. And their history of standing up for children's rights -- especially for taboo subjects like interracial orphans and child abuse -- is so layered in a deep, true calling that they have been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize. Truly, the most beautiful two women I have yet to meet. If you would like to support their lifelong march, grab yourself a bottle of Carrot Cake 3-in-1 Bath and Shower Gel from Philosophy, which donates 100% of proceeds of each bottle sold to Childhelp. I took one, long, intoxcating whiff of it today and I guarantee that you will not be disappointed. And if you happen to be in the Phoenix metro vicinity, don't miss the Childhelp Soars With Wings Spring Luncheon and Fashion Show at the Arizona Biltmore Resort on Saturday, April 14. By the way, I spoke to Philosophy management today about the recent acquisition by The Carlyle Group and if you think the company "sold out," you got another thing coming. Just watch them soar.
