Three Ho Ho Hos for VH Spa at Hotel Valley Ho

I got myself a big fat crush on the VH Spa for Vitality + Health at Hotel Valley Ho. In fact, I was on a recent press trip in San Diego when a fellow writer from New York City -- who had been hanging on my last nerve from the get-go -- abruptly interrupted a conversation I was having with someone about Scottsdale's retro scene to pronounce that VH wasn't a real spa. I pounced on her like a cougar on a pretty boy. Sure, the spa is petite by resort standards but the therapists are top-notch and they seem to pour their hearts and souls into the treatments. The 50s tunes piped through the women's lounge start you out on a snappy, happy note and the treatment rooms, with their cork floors and splashes of brilliant blues, are calm and joyous. And every time I go, I discover something new like if you stare down at the historic Oh Pool from the second-story spa, you'll notice that it's shaped like the mouth of a martini glass with an olive on the side. Brilliant! Three more reasons I love VH:

1. The Ultimate Spa Pedicure: A totally relaxing, reclined pedicure. Just try not to drift off as your calluses are scrubbed away, your legs and feet are massaged and moisturized and your nails are shaped and polished to perfection (60 minutes, $80).

2. The Hawaiian Lomi-Lomi Full-Body Treatment Massage: A journey of sheer tropical bliss. A full-body Hawaiian cane sugar and coconut scrub is followed by Lomi-Lomi Massage with a Hawaiian fruit and flower body butter application (90 minutes, $185).

3. Anything Red Flower. The newest Red Flower treatment is the Nature Full-Body Treatment Massage, a refreshing trip into the spirit of Finland's water rituals (90 minutes, 185). But the Hammam ritual is also amazing and the signature Icelandic Moonflower body and home products available in the spa boutique, are equally gratifying.

Oh, and one more reason to love the VH Spa. Through December, mention Arizona SpaGirls and indulge in a TRUE Facial (60 minutes) plus a TRUE Mineral Makeup Application (30 minutes) for just $95 (a $190 value). Get coupon. And for a limited time, visit the spa page on the Valley Ho website for $25 off any service. And hey, if you don't buy my love song of VH Spa -- which is perfectly understandable -- click here to read travel writer Janice Nieder's assessment. Now there's a fellow writer with good taste!
