Product Review: Solerra Sunless Tanning Mitt

Arizona is quickly becoming a hotbed for shopping, dining, spa-ing, and oh yeah, skin cancer. Currently, Arizona ranks No. 2 in the entire world for skin cancer incidence rates, which is why we need to be extra careful to shield skin from our year-round sunny days. So how can we protect our delicate dermis from the sun's harmful rays but keep a healthy desert glow? Fret not sun worshiping goddesses, there is a virtually streak free, no mess, quick and easy way to self tan -- the Solerra Sunless Tanning Mitt. These disposable mitts are individually wrapped, perfect for travel and take the guesswork out of fake baking. I will admit, after many not so pretty (and very, very orange) experiences with self tanner, I was a little apprehensive about trying another sunless tanning product. However, with spring just around the corner and legs so white that they probably glow in the dark, I decided to brave the mitt. First, I prepped my skin with the eXmitt, an exfoliating, super scrubbing mitt that quickly and thoroughly sloughed off my dry skin. Then, I followed the Sunless Tanning Mitt directions (which are clearly explained and illustrated on the back of the packet) and cut open the top of the Sunless Tanning Mitt packet. I put my hand inside, and pulled the mitt out of its package without having to touch the outside of the mitt. With no risk of stained palms or fingers I swiped the mitt all over my body. The tanning solution dried almost instantly with no smell or stickiness. A few hours later, my skin had a pretty, natural glow with no streaks and orange stripes. The Solerra sunless solution was moisturizing, and gentle enough to tan my face. It also contains Invisicare polymers which bond naturally to the skin and made my tan last for almost a week. With my newly bronzed bod, I am ready to bare my legs just in time for Arizona's sunny, 75-degree "winter" days. The mitts come five to a pack for $24.95. Solerra also offers self-tanning lotion in a bottle for you traditionalists as well as application mitts, sunscreen, post-tan moisturizer and a pre-tanning cleanser. The company also proudly supports the Skin Cancer Awareness Foundation. And now is a great time to give it a try with their online Spring Special, which includes the Solerra Sunless Tanning Mitt, xfolia Fruit Whip, Drench Post-Tan Moisturizer, Silk Tanning Lotion and a Re-Usable Foam Applicator Mitt for $34.99 (a $62.95 value).
