Patio Pedis at the Historic Hermosa Inn
If you're hankering for an amazing brunch, than LON's at The Hermosa Inn in Paradise Valley should top your list. The Eggs Megargee (named after the inn's builder, cowboy artist Alonzo "Lon" Megargee) is poached egg heaven served with a hunk of beef tenderloin over an English muffin with tomato and asparagus, all smothered in smoked chili hollandaise (somebody grab me a fork!). But I just got wind of another reason to saddle up and head out to this historic property: Private Patio Pedis. The newly unveiled alfresco treatments include a foot scrub, warm paraffin wrap and foot massage -- all done in the privacy of your own casita patio. Guests with swollen soles can opt for a cooling gel application or can choose to have a Mani/Pedi combo. Originally built in 1935 as a private residence and studio by one of Arizona's many colorful and legendary personalities, artist Lon Megargee, The Hermosa Inn was painstakingly restored by owners Fred and Jennifer Unger, who purchased the property in 1992. Today this historic landmark charms its guests as a casual yet elegant retreat for business and pleasure. Each of the Inn's 35 guest castisas is uniquely decorated in giddy-up Southwestern style and offers its own distinctive personality. Authentic architectural and design elements include adobe brick construction, wood beams, beehive fireplaces (in most rooms), mesquite doors and hand-painted Mexican tile. Megargee's own works of art adorn the walls along with photographs of the artist himself. While no two rooms are alike, features include separate sitting areas with fireplaces, wood-beamed vaulted ceilings, skylights, shutters, wet bars and a courtyard patio with a semi-private whirlpool spa. Walkways of desert gardens, flower-lined stone paths, and picturesque lawns lead to individual private patios, some with outdoor wood-burning fireplaces, stone fountains and wrought-iron chimaeras. The Patio Pedis are just one more reason to rustle off them cowboy boots and enjoy the quaint Arizona charm of The Hermosa Inn. And with the fall season in high gear, don't miss Wine Flight Wednesdays, the Sunday Artist Brunch Series and other events. For more, visit www.hermosainn.com.
