Boy Tested and Spa Girl Approved: LUSH Fresh Face Masks

There's nothing more delightful than seeing your 50-something dad slathered in a lumpy, pea-soup-green face mask. Except maybe getting your hyperactive brother-in-law to join in the fun with a thick chocolate paste on one side of his face and a grainy green goo on the other. For the sake of protecting their manliness, we'll call these two familiar guinea pigs of mine Jackie and Jimmy. Jackie tried out Ayesha from LUSH's fresh face mask collection, and Jimmy did doubled-duty with Cupcake and Love Lettuce. All three masks are so spankin' fresh that they have to be stored in the frig and are among the few LUSH products sold only in stores and not online (available in nine fresh blends). Ayesha calls on Fuller's Earth to smooth fine lines and a complex of fresh asparagus and herbs to firm skin tissue. Love Lettuce is a balancing lavender-laced mask that makes skin smooth and matte. And Cupcake is a minty, cocoa concoction that sops up extra oil and protects skin from breakouts. The results? Jackie got antsy and washed his off before it dried completely but still commented that his face felt extremely clean, tight and refreshed. Jimmy, on the other hand, kept his scary face on for far too long and finally rinsed after being threatened that his face might stay that way. The Love Lettuce side was hydrated and dewy while on the Cupcake side, pores seemed visibly minimized and had a tight, clean glow. Love Lettuce is a favorite of the spa boy (code name Johnny) and I could eat Ayesha by the spoonful for all its glowing aftereffects (you can call me JoJo). If you're man enough, try a fresh face mask for yourself at LUSH stores nationwide. BONUS: Green beer not your thing? Me neither, ick! This Saturday, celebrate St. Patty's Day with LUSH at Scottsdale Fashion Square (and other nationwide locations) for a green day to remember. Prizes, freebies and more! Visit lush.com and click on Store Events for details. Photo: Not pretty but oh-so good Love Lettuce (AKA, Joy) from LUSH.
