Curves for Women offers a unique 30-minute strength-training program created specifically for women of all ages. By blending strength and cardio training, the program is designed to safely burn fat, increase lean muscle tissue and raise metabolism – a necessary combination for successful permanent weight loss and overall fitness. Developed by Gary and Diane Heavin, the first Curves for Women opened its doors in Texas in 1992 and is now one of the world's largest fitness center franchises.

The program is based on the Quickfit System – an exercise circuit that alternates hydraulic resistance strength training machines with aerobic recovery stations. Designed to be completed in 30 minutes, the system consists of five stages: a warm-up period, 20 minutes of aerobic activity at a sustained target heart rate, three sets of strength training on each major muscle group, a cool down period and a stretching routine. An instructor or cue tape directs you to move to each exercise station every 30 seconds and check your heart rate every eight minutes. According to founder Gary Heavin, the Quickfit System "is an unprecedented exercise system every woman can use to achieve permanent results without permanent dieting. There are no pills, gimmicks or 'something for nothing' claims. It’s the toughest thirty minutes of a member’s day ... but it works!"
