The Centre for Well-Being at the Phoenician has long been recognized as one of the premier resort spas in the country. Located at the foot of Camelback Mountain on the 250-acre grounds of the prestigious Phoenician resort, the spa is known for its forward-thinking approach and focus on the mind, body and spirit connection. The 22,000-square-foot facility features 24 private treatment rooms, a complete fitness center and full-service salon.

Your visit to the Centre for Well-Being will begin in the private women's or men's locker areas each with a sauna, steam room, jacuzzi, Swiss shower and fully stocked with personal items and styling tools. While you await your treatment, sip on fresh tea, coffee or juice in the waiting lounge or recline in a leather chaise lounger in Meditation Atrium flanked by lush greenery and a softly trickling fountain.

You may find it difficult to choose among the amazing array of spa offerings. If so, try one of the day packages like the Sanctuary, which includes a holistic manicure and pedicure, massage, personalized facial, body treatment and a delicious spa lunch. For the spiritual seeker, try the Soul Journey package, which offers a Reiki Chakra balancing treatment and a tarot reading, astrology consultation or a personalized mediation. The Centre also offers fitness and wellness services including a unique lifestyle coaching consultation where participants learn techniques to cope with anxiety and stress.

The Centre for Well-Being is a world-class spa offering therapeutic treatments, life enhancing services and expert guidance in a luxurious, tranquil environment. The Centre has been consistently recognized by the spa community for its attentive staff, innovative spa treatments and meticulous attention to details. SpaGirl Review:

The Centre for Well-Being at The Phoenician will always be a sentimental favorite among all the spas that I've been lucky enough to visit. One, because it was the first spa that I've ever been to and two, because it was the very place that inspired me to start a business dedicated to Arizona's spas and salons. It was also where I became a spa addict.

On my first visit, I was joined by a posse of girlfriends visiting from the east coast. We were a bunch of giddy, very excited girls and from the moment we entered the doors of the Centre for Well-Being, we all experienced our own bit of magic that day. Once we checked in and changed into our luxurious spa gear, we dispersed for several hours to our individual treatments. My first treatment was a custom facial. And it was not just any facial – to this day, I still visit the same aesthetician when I need a supercharged, deep cleansing facial. She gave my first eyebrow waxing too, one that my German and Italian ancestors would have been extremely grateful for. I then walked over the salon for a French pedicure that was so professionally done, I wasn't able to take my eyes off my toes for weeks after.

By noon, coiffed and dizzy from our experiences, we gathered in the Centre's Meditation Atrium where we reclined in the leather chaise loungers and awaited a guided meditation offered daily to spa and resort guests. Our meditation leader softly lulled us into a semi-conscious state and guided us through a series of mental journeys that allowed us to explore our inner selves. Once awakened and feeling extremely refreshed, we exchanged stories of what we saw during our trance. One friend saw a beautiful golden orb and me, well I saw a short, hairy old man but that's another story.

Now that our skin glowed and our minds were nourished, it was time to feed our bodies. So, looking much like a gang of hooded spa thugs, the five of us then tramped out across the expansive grounds of The Phoenician to the Oasis poolside restaurant. After our healthy lunch, feeling full and lazy, we plopped into some lounge chairs by the pool, ordered some not-so-healthy margaritas and enjoyed the last minutes of our glorious spa day.

In all, it was a day of full of firsts, much too much pampering, great camaraderie and even the beginnings of a business. Piling into my car after our day came to an end, everyone seemed to glow with a sense of quiet bliss. I've been back many times since, and although a few faces have changed and some visits have been better than others, the Centre for Well-Being is truly the epitome of luxury where the attentive service and top-notch treatments are sincerely dedicated to the art of pampering the mind, body and soul.
